Quang Nam Overview

Quang Nam (Quảng Nam) is a province in the Central region of Vietnam. It is bordered by Thừa Thiên–Huế Province to the north, the nation of Laos to the west, Kon Tum Province to the southwest, Quảng Ngãi Province to the southeast, the South China Sea to the east, and the city of Da Nang to the northeast.

National Route 1A runs through the east of the province. Both Tam Kỳ and Chu Lai Economic Zone are located along this road, while Hội An is around 10 km east of it. National Road 14 runs from Thừa Thiên–Huế Province through the west of Quảng Nam to Đắk Glei District in Kon Tum Province in the Central Highlands.

Total natural area of Quảng Nam is 1.040.683 ha, is shaped from nine types of difference land, include : sand dune and coastal sand, alluvial soil of river, alluvial soil of sea, gray soil, yellow-red soil, valley land, infertile soil eroded rocks,…

Quảng Nam only two seasons is rainy season and dry season, is affected of the North winter.

Da Nang International Airport is located in Da Nang just north of Quảng Nam. Another airport, Chu Lai Airport is located in Núi Thành District in the south of the province near Quảng Ngãi Province, serving Chu Lai Economic Zone.

The province has two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the ancient town of Hội An and the Mỹ Sơn temple complex. It also lies on the World Heritage Road which connects different World Heritage Sites in Central Vietnam.

Area: 10,438.4 sq. km.

Population: 1,480.3 thousand habitants (2015).

Capital: Tam Ky City.
