Do Son





1. BAO DAI VILLA

Located on Vung hill, The palace has a unique architecture and now it becomes an attractive destination for tourists to Do Son.

In 1928, the building was built according to French-style Architecture by Governor General of Indochina, Pafquiere.

Bao Dai palace, covering 3,700 m2, usage area is about 1,000 m2 with two bed-rooms for King Bao Dai and Queen Nam Phuong Nguyen Huu Thi Lan on the ground floor. Next is King Bao Dai’s working room.


2. BA DE TEMPLE

The temple is very sacred located at the head of the wind and waves of the coast of Do Son district, Hai Phong city

Legend told that Trinh Giang Lord while was in his royal trip around the region, saw a beautiful girl cutting grass on the hill. The Lord raped the village girl of Chai village. When she was pregnant, the Lord had gone to his palace. Under the village rules, the ill-fated girl had to have her hair cut and applied lime, carried stone and sank down into the sea. She was the victim of an injustice which was gone through the sky and her miraculous spirited on the sea waves to help the village got out of dangers.


3. DAU ISLAND

Situated 1km from Do Son Town, this small island was one of important outposts of Dai Viet people under the Ly - Tran dynasties. After they occupied Hai Phong in 1873, the French colonist started to build a lighthouse on the island in 1884. The work was completed in 1896 and began operating in June 1898. Therefore it is also called Hon Dau Lighthouse.


4. TUONG LONG (Do Son) TOWER

This Buddhist architectural work was built under the Ly Thanh Tong Dynasty on 2,000sq.m of land. It was located in Van Son Ward, Do Son town. The four angles of the tower are leaning by 1999 toward the center. The tower was empty. Inside it was a Buddha statue. Bricks and stone blocks of various sizes built this work. Unique tiles engraved with lotuses, chrysanthemums and lemon flowers covered its walls. This decoration style is typical of the Ly Dynasty. However, the tower was destroyed for its bricks when Hai Duong citadel was built in 1804.
