Can Tho (Cần Thơ) city is located in the Hau river bank with total area of 1,401.61 km2, accounting 3.49% of the whole area. The North of the province adjoins at An Giang province; the South adjoins to Hau Giang province; the West adjoins to Kien Giang province, the East adjoins to Dong Thap and Vinh Long province. Can Tho city is locatedin central of the Mekong Delta, in the tradeaxisofLongXuyenquadrangle, Ca Mau peninsula, Dong Thap Muoi andHoChiMinh city.

Can Tho City has 6 national highways passing through including National highway 1A, National highway 91B, National highway 80, South Hau river route and Can Tho – Vi Thanh route mostly reaching grade – III and grade – IV standards or having the scale of urban roads in accordance with grade-II and grade-III delta road standards. Besides, the city now has 11 provincial routes reaching grade V, grade IV and grade III delta road standards and over 383 km district roads. In particular, 73/85 communes have motor roads to the centers of communes.

Thank to that Can Tho becomes "the green lungs of the Mekong Delta".The climate is harmonized with few of storms. It is hot, humid all year. Rainy season lasts from May to November, and dry season lasts from December to April. The annual average temperature is 27oC.

Can Tho is over its 200 years as the main town, once known as Tay Do and now one city of Viet Nam. All of economic, culture activities closely relate to river and canals which like the 'street'. Cantho has simple, poetic beauty with well-off villages under shade of coconut trees.It is wonderful to take a boat trip along the riverbanks on fine weather days. On the east bank of Hau River is Ninh Kieu Wharf, which is well known for its beautiful location. Other interesting places are Bang Lang Stock Sanctuary, Can Tho and My Khanh Tourist gardens and Can Tho Market.
