Lam Dong Overview

Lam Dong is a highland province in the South of Vietnam with the average elevation of 800 - 1,500 m above sea level and an area of 9,764 km2. It covers three highlands and it is also the head of seven big rivers.

The province has borders Khanh Hoa province and Ninh Thuan province in the East, Dong Nai province in the West, Binh Thuan in the South and Southeast, Dak Lak province in the North.

Lam Dong has tropical monsoon climate with two seasons: the rainy season and the dry one – the rainy season is from May to November and the dry season is from December to the next April. The climate is mild and cool all year around with the average temperature is from 18oC to 25oC.

Lam Dong has 12 administrative units constituting Da Lat city, Bao Loc city and 10 districts. The National Routes 20, 27, 28, 55 that connect Lam Dong with the Southeast, Ho Chi Minh City, the Central Highland and Central Coastal provinces have provided Lam Dong with the strong economic, cultural and social relations within the region. The new provincial route 723 with the total length of 140 km connects Da Lat – Nha Trrang has been put into operation. It helps shortening the travelling time between these two major tourist centers. In the future, when the highway Da Lat – Daugiay put into operation, it will also shorten the travelling time between Da Lat – Ho Chi Minh city.

Lien Khuong Airport, 28 km away from Dalat center in the North and 75 km away from Baoloc city in the South. Over the past time, the Southern Airlines General Company has invested in building a new terminal with the full equipments and services, which has the capacity of 1.5 to 2 million of passengers per year and upgraded the runways, the new aircraft parking area with international standards, meeting the development of kinds of civil aircrafts such as Fokker 70, A320, A321 and equivalent.
